International Touring Exhibition of Chinese Ceramic Art Collectables To be Staged in May

Being held from May 23-26, "Asia International Arts & Antiques Fair" (AIAA 2008) will be the last stop for International Touring Exhibition of Chinese Ceramic Art collectables. Visitors will have the opportunities to appreciate works of famous contemporary ceramic artists. These ceramic wares are characterized by various renowned Chinese ancient kilns, reflecting the features of different schools of ceramic art.

International Touring Exhibition of Chinese Ceramic Art Collectables is organized by China-China Cultural & Art Center and co-organized by Paper Communication Exhibition Services. China-China Cultural & Art Center is a professional institution engaged in cultural exchange of Chinese ware craft. It also provides a platform for master ceramic artists around the world to share their views and experiences, as well as to further enhance the development of ceramic art.

With the support of Central Propaganda Department, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education, State Council Information Office, Chinese Cultural Exchanges Association, the Exhibition features exquisite works of master artists from over eleven renowned ceramic production sites, including Guan Kiln of Northern Song Dynasty, Kaifeng of Henan Province; Guan Kiln of Southern Song Dynasty, Hangzhou of Zhejian Province; Longquan of Zhejian Province; Ru Kiln, Ruzhou of Henan Province; Ding Kiln, Quyang of Hebei Province; Jun Kiln, Yuzhou of Henan Province; Jingdezhen of Jiangxi Province; Cizhou Kiln, Pengcheng of Hebei Province; Yaozhou Kiln; Tangshan of Hebei Province and Jian Kiln, showcasing the skilful techniques of ceramic artists and enhancing the influence of Chinese ceramic art upon the world.

The ceramic production sites mentioned above have distinctive features, for instance, Jingdezhen of Jiangxi Province is named the ‘Porcelain City of the Millennium’ and its porcelain is as white as jade, as shiny as mirror, as thin as paper and its voice is as crispy as chime stone. Ru Kiln, Ruzhou of Henan Province, has a high reputation for its exquisite porcelain, which is as blue as sky and as smooth as jade. Ding Kiln, Quyang of Hebei Province, was the most renowned kiln in Song Dynasty. Jun Kiln, Yuzhou of Henan Province is famous for its magical colour change, ie. single colour turns into multi-colour after baking in the kiln. Jun Kiln is for imperial use at the time of Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty. In Tangshan of Hebei Province, production of Guzhici (Bone China) includes two baking processes: high temperature plain baking and low temperature glaze baking, that lead to high brightness, transparency and delicate porcelain. This exhibition features works from different kilns, offering opportunities for visitors to know more about the Chinese ceramic culture.
